Gardeners Supply Company
Gardener’s Supply was founded in 1983 by a handful of enthusiastic Vermont gardeners. Today, we offer everything from seed-starting supplies and garden furniture to flower supports and garden carts.
Gardener’s Supply is located in an area called the Intervale, a tract of riverside land that has been transformed from a dumping ground to a city breadbasket, producing more than 500,000 pounds of food each year.
We do business with hundreds of suppliers across the across the globe, but our largest and most important supplier is right here in Vermont. It’s a small-but-mighty factory called Serac.
In Vermont, we have two garden centers, where you’ll find a team of experienced gardeners ready to provide excellent service. Visit us in Williston or Burlington.
We are 100% employee-owned. In 1987, after our third year in business, we adopted an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) that allows all employees to earn stock and share in company profits.
In 1983, Will Raap and eight others founded a Vermont-based, employee-owned business, lead by avid gardeners, eager to find quality tools and earth-friendly gardening supplies.
We’re a B Corporation. What’s in the name? The B is for benefit. As a B Corp – benefit corporation – we believe that business can be a source for good by serving shareholders and society.
We donate 8 percent of our company profits to programs and organizations that are using gardening to improve the world. It’s a commitment we made on our first day of business back in 1983.
We established the Garden Crusader Awards in 2001 to honor people who are improving the world through gardening. Learn more…

Employee Volunteers – Community service is not just a company policy, tended to by a few people. It’s a founding principle that’s part of our corporate culture.
